Once you’ve installed the app, open it and click on the “Register” button. The whole process will take just a few minutes. NB! You need to be able to authenticate your Smart-ID account with an Estonian, Latvian or Lithuanian social security number / personal identification number.

Smart-ID for under 18 yo
Yes, children can also use Smart-ID – but their accounts need to be authenticated by a parent or guardian. Read about Smart-ID for minors.
Smart-ID for foreigners
You do not need to be a citizen in Estonia, Latvia or Lithuania to use Smart-ID – as long as you have your national insurance number. Read about Smart-ID for foreigners.
Multiple accounts
Smart-ID is device based: you can have it on as many smart devices as you want. Read more about multiple Smart-ID accounts
You can apply for and use Smart-ID on two levels:
Smart-ID – Smart-ID – apply for with your ID-card or Mobile-ID or by visiting a bank office. Can be used in all e-services integrated with the Smart-ID network.
Smart-ID Basic – Smart-ID Basic – available in Latvia and Lithuania and can only be used for internet banking. Not suitable for use with other e-services. Upgrade your Smart-ID Basic account to full-access Smart-ID.
